Great op-ed on the health impacts of factory farming

More and more we are seeing individuals, groups and companies speak out about factory farming --and for more reasons than just animal welfare. (Although surely, that should be enough.)  

This week, there was an op-ed that focused on a different ailment of factory farming: 

In The Denver Post, Steve Ells (the founder and co-CEO of Chipotle) and Russ Kremer (co-founder and president of the Ozark Mountain Pork Cooperative) urge the FDA to, "comply with two federal court orders that require it to ban non-therapeutic uses of antibiotics unless manufacturers can prove those uses are safe."  

The commentary, "Regulate the use of antibiotics on farm animals," argues that you can raise healthy animals for mass consumption. Ells and Kremer write: "For years, we've operated successful businesses — Chipotle Mexican Grill and Ozark Mountain Pork Cooperative — with those ideas in mind. That's why we're concerned about the widespread abuse of antibiotics on factory farms, where most of America's meat and poultry are raised."
